The home clash with Korona Kielce was a special match for Kornel Lisman – for the first time in his career, the young winger was a part of Lech’s starting line-up in an official league game.
Lisman joined Lech Poznań in the summer of 2023 from FASE Szczecin. For a long time, the winger was a key figure in Lech’s B team, which competes in the third division, until the youngster suffered an injury which paused his career. Since the start of the current season, Lisman has been a member of the senior team squad and has been training with Niels Frederiksen. The winger has also made his official debut for the A team during this campaign when he came in for the last few minutes of the match against Śląsk Wrocław (1:0). In the following weeks, Lisman appeared in the clashes with Motor Lublin (1:2), Lechia Gdańsk (0:1), Stal Mielec (3:1), and Śląsk Wrocław (1:3). However, it wasn’t until the most recent league round that the 19-year-old made his official debut in the starting line-up.
“For sure, the emotions were more intense because I don’t get to be a part of the starting line-up every time. I am glad I got the chance from the coach, and I think that I took good advantage of it. I expect more from myself, and I would like to give my team numbers, but the most important thing is the three points that we won. We ended a bad series, and we are back on the right track,” said Lech’s player.
For the winger, it was the second time that he faced Korona Kielce this season – at the end of October, Lisman was a part of the starting line-up in Lech’s B team’s Polish Cup clash against the same opponent and won a penalty kick for his squad. On Saturday, the rival was the same, but the crowd was much larger – over 37 thousand people watched the young winger show his skills on the pitch.
“I felt good and very confident on the field. I thought that the stress would be bigger, but in reality, I didn’t feel it at all. The day before, when I learned that I’d be in the starting line-up, my adrenaline level rose. On the pitch, from the first whistle, I tuned out and felt great. In Ekstraklasa, the expectations when it comes to running and sprints are much higher; hence, it was a physically difficult match. Towards the end, I got cramps. It was a challenging game, and Korona also set the bar high,” explained Kornel Lisman.
