Zagłębie Sosnowiec - Lech Poznań 0:6

Lech beat Zaglebie Sosnowiec 6:0 in an away league clash. Gumny, Gytkjaer, Klups, Amaral and Marchwinski - who made his debut in the senior team - scored goals for the club from Poznan.

The hosts were the first side to attack. In a one-on-one clash with the keeper, Wrzesinski failed to place the ball in the back of the net. The Bosnian goalkeeper also intervened impressively when Pawlowski fired a shot at Lech’s goal. Unfortunately, Buric was injured in that same moment and Putnocky was forced to come on the pitch. Shortly afterwards, Zaglebie had another opportunity to score when Babiarz sent a precise and well-timed pass to Wrzesinski, but the latter’s attempt was off target.

After 20 minutes, Lech finally woke up and quickly scored the first goal. Kostevych crossed the ball into the box, the defenders cleared the threat, but Gumny was waiting in front of the penalty area and placed it in the net with a beautiful volley. Zaglebie replied with Babiarz’s shot from outside the box which was off target.

Lech dominated the next minutes of the match however, they struggled to create scoring chances. Nonetheless, 5 minutes before halftime, the team from Poznan scored the second goal. Gumny crossed the ball into the box and Gytkjaer redirected it into the back of the net with a header. It was Dane’s first league goal scored in an away match this season. Before the referee announced halftime, Zaglebie had a perfect chance to score too, but Wrzesinski’s shot hit the post.

The second half was full of goal-scoring opportunities for Lech Poznan. Shortly after the referee resumed the match, the team from Poznan scored the third goal. Gytkjaer raced down the right flank, recovered the ball just as it was about to leave the pitch, and sent a pass into the penalty area which Klups converted into a goal. Zaglebie attempted to do the same, but Pawlowski’s shot was imprecise.

Lech was unstoppable that Sunday evening and the players from Poznan kept on scoring. An offensive run led by Gytkjaer and Klups ended with Amaral sending the ball in the back of the net. Zaglebie was determined to score as well, but even Pawlowski who was the most active player failed to come close to Lech’s goal. In the 64th minute, the club from Poznan had yet another scoring chance but this time Amaral’s attempt was off target. A moment later, Zaglebie’s keeper was forced to intervene when Makuszewski fired a shot at his goal.

For the next dozen or so minutes, the match slowed down. The hosts struggled to come close to Lech’s goal, but the team from Poznan was more efficient and quickly managed to add another goal to their account thanks to Amaral. A couple of minutes later, Marchwinski came on the pitch and in his debut in the senior team, the 16-year-old scored the 6th goal of the night, breaking the record for the youngest footballer to score for Lech Poznan.
