Lech returned from Lubin after being beaten by Zaglebie 2:1. Marcin Robak scored the one goal for the Polish Champions in the injury time.
Neither of the teams had a good league start this season, and therefore both clubs wanted to end the poor series, but on Friday only one of them could do so. The Polish Champions were the ones who attacked since the opening seconds of the match, but Tralkas shot was inaccurate. So was Papadopoulos', but his teammate Janus did not miss in the 7th minute when he received a flat pass from Dorde Cotry and before the game really started, Lech was already forced to catch up.
In addition, Lech did not only concede a goal, but the team also lost Gergo Lovrencsics. The Hungarian midfielder suffered shortly after the first whistle when one of the opponents hit his shoulder. The pain disabled Gergo from playing, and therefore Dariusz Formella appeared on the pitch. Holman and Kadar had their goal-scoring opportunities soon after Formella came in, but neither of the players managed to equalize.
Lech dominated the play, but the team was unable to cause problems to the rivals. On the other hand, Zaglebie counterattacked rarely, but when they did, Lech was in trouble. One of such attacks could have even ended with a second goal, but Janoszka's shot was far from accurate. Kaminski had a chance of his own shortly afterwards, but his header was inaccurate, too. The play took place near either of the penalty areas. However, it was Zaglebie that had better goal-scoring opportunities and before halftime they changed the score to 2:0. The chaos near Lech's goal disorganized the defense from Poznan and when the ball fell by Piateks feet, the goalkeeper was helpless.
Skorza made immediate changes as soon as the halftime began and when the two teams returned to the pitch, Linetty and Thomalla were already waiting for them. However, the two substitutions did not change the play. Although Lech had its opportunities, its players failed to convert them into goals.
The match was far from exhilarating, but 15 minutes before the final whistle, the fans got up from their seats once again. After one of many corner kicks, the ball hit Robaks hand and yet the referee let the players continue the game. Despite Lech's intense attacks, Zaglebie's goal remained secure. Both teams had goal-scoring opportunities, but at last the guests managed to diminish the losses thanks to Tralka's inaccurate shot which turned into an assist when Robak redirected the ball into the back of the net. However, the sole goal changes nothing and it was yet another match when Lech failed to collect points.
