Youth teams - overview

U-17 Polish National Team

Marcin Dorna’s squad competed in two tournaments. The first one was Mermaid Cup during which the Poles beat Georgia and Switzerland, and then went on to face Englishmen who eventually won the final clash following penalty kicks. In October, the U-17 team played in games with much more at stake – the European Championships. The Poles won against Northern Macedonia 3:2 and then confidently beat Liechtenstein 11:0. In their last game, they drew with Belgium 2:2. The successful performances helped the squad advance to the next phase of the qualifiers.

U-16 Polish National Team

The squad led by Dariusz Gęsior had four friendly games scheduled throughout October and November – two against Turkey, and two against Northern Ireland. The Poles managed to beat their Turkish opponents twice, 1:0 and then 3:2 following Norbert Pacławski’s hattrick. Fast forward one month, the Polish youth players travelled to Northern Ireland where they lost the first match 1:2, and then bounced back in the second game to beat their rivals 1:0.

Rafał Lasocki’s squad competed in a friendly tournament in October, during which they faced Russia, USA, and Iceland. The Poles successfully beat Iceland 4:0, but then drew with USA 3:3 and lost against Russia 1:2. Hence, in total, the Polish team collected 4 points. In the November friendly matches, the Poles were beaten by Ireland 2:1 twice.
