Lech was to play its first away match of the season in Cracow. In between the two matches against FC Basel, the team from Poznan had to face Wisla. Dariusz Dudka returned to the home ground of the team he's been representing not long ago, however the player eventually watched the game from the bench.
The opening minutes were undoubtedly dominated by the hosts. Wisla had their first chance early on when they won a corner kick, which was converted into a precise center, but even though Glowacki jumped higher than Kaminski who's been marking him, the header was inaccurate. However, in the next offensive action the team from Cracow succeeded. Kadar was the one whose hesitation allowed Boguski to send the ball flying into the back of an empty goal and since the 6th minute Lech was forced to catch up.
It took a long time for Lech to regain a rhythm and so the hosts had an easier task. During one of Lech's actions Kaminski lost the ball and the team from Cracow had a perfect opportunity to counterattack, but this time Buric turned out to be better than one of Wisla's attacking players. In 16th minute the same footballer faced Buric again, but this time his header was inaccurate.
It wasn't until the second quarter of the match that Lech finally caused some trouble to Wisla's defense line. Before that their goal attempts were either weak, or quickly stopped, but this time the team from Poznan created a good chance which was finished by Lovrencsics. Wisla's goalkeeper saved the volley and so Lech got a corner kick which could have ended in a goal for the hosts. The team from Cracow counterattacked rapidly and if it wasn't for Linetty, the might have scored second goal.
The match finally became fascinating, as soon after both teams were again near Wisla's penalty area. Following one of Lech's well played-out corner kicks, Kaminski had a good chance to equalize, but his header was successfully stopped by Cierzniak. The goalkeeper did not have much problems saving Hamalainen's shot from the corner of the penalty area either.
Clearly Lech began dominating the match and their game became more effective. The guests quickly recovered the ball and led an attack after an attack on Wisla's defence line, but they lacked a precise final touch. Whenever Lech won a corner kick or a free kick, the players from Poznan managed to free themselves from the marking, but none of the chances were converted into a goal.
Lech came out for the second half with Darko Jevtic in the attack, instead of Denis Thomalla. The Swiss player was already ready to come in on the pitch in the first half, but the substitution was eventually delayed until halftime. Since the opening minutes of the second half, the team from Poznan began attacking intensely. Douglas and Lovrencsics had opportunities to equalize, but neither succeeded in doing so. On the other hand, Wisla had a goal attempt of his own, although it did not end up in a goal either, as Crivellaro's shot wasn't on target.
In the 56th minute Lech's pressure could have finally brought a desirable result. Jevtic played a perfectly timed pass to Hamalainen who has appeared from behind the defenders. However, the latter's technical shot was successfully stopped by Wisla's goalkeeper. Neither did Linetty nor Douglas manage to equalize either.
Wisla was focused on counterattacking, hoping that was the way to secure a win against the Polish Champion. After every of Lech's failed offensive actions the hosts attacked immediately. In the 59th minute Guerrier had another chance to score, but this time the ball stopped on the side net despite the fans being sure it was already 2:0.
With time Lech began opening up and that made them exposed to Wisla dangerous counterattacks. In the 70th minute one of Douglas' precise crosses reached Tralka, but the score did not change because the latter's shot flew above the crossbar. 10 minutes later Lech's captain took the role of a playmaker and Hamalainen put the final touch to the action, but yet again Cierzniak intervened well. Wisla's goalkeeper did a brilliant job that night and he had a big impact on the win. Lech remained fighting till the very last minute, but eventually one of Wisla's counterattacks turned brutal and Boguski found himself one-against-one with Buric, leaving the latter helpless as he placed the ball in the net.
