“This loss can’t bring us down because we have other league matches ahead of us. It’s still the beginning of the season and there are plenty of games to go. We are going to face Zaglebie with a double dose of motivation,” commented Jakub Moder after the lost clash with Legia Warsaw.
Last weekend, Lech was beaten by Legia Warsaw 2:1 - a score that aroused disappointment among the squad from Poznan. At the beginning of the second half, Lech opened the score sheet but failed to hold onto the lead and when the match ended, the team from Poznan was forced to accept a loss.
In the first half, Legia dominated, but the second part of the game looked better. We scored the first goal and that’s when we should have tried to slow down the pace, stay in possession of the ball… Of course, if we kept on pressing high, Legia would have become tired and they’d have an even harder task. Instead, we conceded two goals and we are going back home without a single, point,” explained Lech’s center-back.
“There are moments when we really need to behave better. Having a one-goal advantage, we shouldn’t have let that happen; our task was to stay in control of the match but instead we conceded two stupid goals,” added Lubomir Satka.
For a lot of players, including the Academy youngsters, it was the first opportunity to face one of Lech’s biggest rivals in an away clash. This made it even harder for them to accept the final score. “We made two silly mistakes. We are going home without a single point; we are truly disappointed. However, what really matters is that we bounce back, win the upcoming match against Zaglebie Lubin, and initiate a series of triumphs,” summarized Jakub Kaminski.
The next week is going to be an intense one for Lech. After the home clash with Zaglebie, the players will travel to Rzeszow where they will face Resovia in the Polish Cup. A few days later, Lech is going to play against Pogon Szczecin, i.e. the current leader of PKO Ekstraklasa. “We said to each other in the dressing room that whether we win or lose, we do it together. This loss can’t bring us down because we have other league matches ahead of us. It’s still the beginning of the season and there are plenty of games to go. We are going to face Zaglebie with a double dose of motivation,” finished Jakub Moder.
