Lech Poznań decided to take advantage of the buyout clause in Patrik Wålemark’s contract. On Friday evening, the formalities were finalized and the Swedish winger is now bound to Lech on a permanent transfer. His new contract will last until June 30th, 2029.
The great news was announced shortly before Lech’s Friday league clash with Widzew Łódź. The 22-year-old was warmly welcomed by the fans when he appeared on the pitch.
“In the summer, we informed that the loan agreement included a buyout clause. We had time until the end of the season, but we have decided to take advantage of the clause now, therefore clearing any speculations regarding Patrik’s future. Our winger has adapted to the team brilliantly; he is a valuable figure and displays the kind of quality that was expected of him. He is fast, comfortable at dribbling, and capable of firing a strong shot. He is still a young player with tremendous potential and we count on him to keep developing,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
The 22-year-old player made his debut in Allsvenskan in June 2020 whilst competing for BK Häcken. In his first season in the Swedish top division, he scored 3 goals and assisted his teammates 5 times. In the following campaign, he found the back of the net 9 times and added 8 assists. In January 2022, Wålemark joined Feyenoord Rotterdam on a permanent transfer. In the few months following the transfer, Patrik and his teammates reached the Europa Conference League final and the Swede even made a short appearance in the decisive clash with AS Roma (0:1). Over the next 18 months, the winger played in 36 matches for Feyenoord (3 goals and 3 assists), whereas in the season 2023/2024, Wålemark joined SC Heerenveen on loan where he got 3 goals and 4 assists in 24 league matches.
Patrik joined Lech in the summer of 2024 and during the first 6 months at Lech, he spent nearly 700 minutes on the pitch. In the 11 appearances, he scored 4 goals and got one assist. The fans best remember his performance against Korona Kielce (3:2) when the Swedish winger scored a hat trick.
