On Saturday Vernon De Marco signed a contract with Lech Poznan. The 24-year-old will spend the next season on loan in Poznan. The contract includes a buyout clause as well.
The Argentinian is a centre-back capable of playing as a fullback and a defensive midfielder as well. He spent the last season at Slovana Bratislava where he competed in 24 games and scored one goal.
We have been observing De Marco for two years. We’ve seen how he played in Slovakia and we know how he’s been progressing and performing on the pitch. The player has good defensive playmaking skills which are a great asset. He is calm on the pitch and his technical skills are important too. Moreover, he plays well in the air as well. He is an interesting footballer,” explained Karol Klimczak, Lech’s chairman.
Vernon De Marco is very optimistic about the transfer. After 4 years spent in Slovakia, he is hoping to adapt quickly and become a key player in Bjelica’s team. The defender emphasized that a transfer is a great opportunity to develop personal skills and make a progress as a footballer.
“I feel great. I am very happy about the transfer. Joining Lech is a big step in my career and I am proud to be here,” said the defender. “Everything has been happening so quickly, the medical tests, the contract. I cannot wait to play and fight my way into the starting line-up. I believe the club and the fans will enjoy having me here and I will bring them reasons to rejoice,” added De Marco.
The Argentinian joined Lech on loan, but both parties discussed the details of a 3-year contract which the player will sign if Lech decides to buy him from Slovana Bratislava at the end of the season.
