Lech's training staff in continuously monitoring the endurance and health of the young forward. Kownacki turned 19 a few days ago, but already for the past two years the youngster has been competing at senior level in the Polish Ekstraklasa. However, since Urban took over the team from Poznan, the forward hasn't been playing whole matches. "We make sure to substitute Dawid whenever his organism shows the first signs of exhaustion and it usually happens an hour into the match," explained the coach.
Nevertheless, when Kownacki joins his National Team, the coach has no influence on the time and performance of the player. The next U-19 match will take place in Saturday, and then on Tuesday. "I fear for Kownacki. He has every right to not withstand it," worries Jan Urban.
The Polish U-19 team led by Janas has 3 matches planned within 6 days. "Kownacki is a significant member of our squad. He is tough, but if he is to play on those 3 days, it will take me 3 weeks to lead him back to his best shape," said Lech's coach who's undoubtedly been valuing the young forward. It is no accident that Kownacki hasn't been competing in every single game in the spring matches of the team from Poznan.
