Piotr Tomasik reached an agreement with Lech Poznan. The left-back signed a 3,5-year contract which will last until 2021.
30-year old plays as a left-back. He joined Lech from Jagiellonia Bialystok where he played 77 matches. His career also includes clubs like Arka Gdynia, Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biala, and Polonia Bytom. The footballer also competed for Polish U-23 National Team 9 years ago.
“He is an experienced Polish player. He is solid in the offensive too, which is important to us. Tomasik had 9 assists last season and this is the kind of defender we want here at Lech – good in the defense and in the offensive. Tomasik fits that profile perfectly,” explained Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman.
The left-back is meant to increase the competitiveness on his position. “Volodymyr Kostevych has never had a rival on the left flank. Of course, there is Puchacz, however, I am talking about experienced players that competed on the highest level. We aim at the Polish Championship, therefore we need to have more than one player per each position on the pitch,” explained the vice-chairman.
Tomasik has played 126 matches in the Polish Ekstraklasa. So far he has 13 assists on his account and 3 goals. The footballer spent a couple of year in I league, i.e. the second tier, where he played 99 matches, scored 12 goals and added 21 assists.
The player himself was also joyful about the transfer. “Whenever you move to a club like Lech, it’s always a thrilling moment. It’s a club with traditions. Everyone would like to be in my shoes and join a team like this one. I am happy and excited about signing the contract. I can’t wait to join the first training session,” explained the footballer.
Tomasik is the second player to join Lech this winter. Tomas Rogne, a Norwegian center-back, has already signed a 4-year contract with Lech during the current transfer window.
