Three finals to go

"Everyone is familiar with our current situation. Lech, after a chaotic season, gets a chance to compete in the qualifications to the international competition. If achieved, that would save the season. But if we can't do that, the past year can be called a failure," explained coach Jan Urban.

Three rounds before the final of the season Lech still has a mathematical chance to compete on the international arena. However, in order for that to happen, Lech doesn't only have to win all three games, but also hope for its rivals to slip. "I believe 9 points will be enough to fight for the Europa League. The chances are big in my opinion. Nevertheless, we need impose one crucial change - start scoring goals. We cannot even hope to be in the top four if we cannot place the ball in the back of the net. This is our main, vast problem and we are well aware of it," said Lech's coach.

After the recent matches out of which neither ended with Lech winning, the training staff's task is to rebuild and strengthen the players' mentality, especially after the loss in the Polish Cup final. "We are all aware that we could have won the final. The trophy was within our reach. The finals are there to be won, no matter what style you do it with. However, we have three more finals to play," highlighted the coach.

The three finals are the upcoming league matches against Cracovia, Zaglebie and Ruch. "I hope that my players will let their anger [about the lost final] out in the league matches that are ahead of us, similarly to the previous season, when we lost the Polish Cup, but won the championship. This is what we need right now: the team that is capable of winning it all. The first final to play is against Cracovia and it is the crucial one, because if we fail to collect all three points, the two other games will lose their importance," said Jan Urban.

Nonetheless, to realize the goal, the team needs to score. Lech failed to place the ball in the net since 300 minutes. "I won't lie. I need to convince my team that they can do it, the way they did in autumn. A team that scores rarely needs to have a defence that's close to perfection. In the end, it is the result that counts. I need to believe, and my players need to believe, that the team is capable of converting at least one of the goal-scoring opportunities into a goal," emphasized the coach.
