1. FC Heidenheim bought Denis Thomalla from Lech Poznan. The German club used the buyout clause inscribed in the contract that was signed when the footballer was transfered on loan at the beginning of the year.
"During the previous 6 months Denis rebuilt his form and started scoring goals. The Germans are satisfied with the player's performance, especially since Thomalla was a part of the starting lineup in the spring. After a tough period in Lech, the footballer is now back on the right path. We wish him a lot of luck in his career," said Piotr Rutkowski, the vice-chairman of the club.
Thomalla joined Lech Poznan from RB Lipsk a year ago. Before becoming a part of the team from Poznan, the footballer competed for the Austrian SV Ried, where he scored 10 goals. In the 27 matches that Thomalla played in Lech's shirt, the player scored 3 goals. His last game for Lech was the clash with Piast Gliwice in December.
In the winter break the player was sent on loan to 1. FC Heidenheim which competes in the 2. Bundesliga. In the 14 matches Thomalla played for the club, he scored 4 goals and assisted twice. The German club ended the season on the 11th rank with 45 points on the account.
Denis Thomalla got a chance to celebrate with Lech the win in the Polish Super Cup final (July 2015) in which the player debuted.
