It's the fourth time this year that Lech Poznan manages to beat Legia Warsaw! The team from Poznan won the game in Warsaw 1:0 thanks to Hamalainen's goal. The result allowed Lech to finally leave the league's lowest rank.
Lech began the match really well and before the hosts could even cause trouble to the defense line from Poznan, Legia was already losing 0:1. In the 8th minute Gajos sent a great, well-timed long ball to Hamalainen and because Rzezniczak made a mistake and let the ball pass through, Hamalainen was left alone with the goalkeeper and put the ball in the back of the net.
Legia was determined to equalize as quickly as possible, but despite many corner kicks and Jodlowiec' and Nikolic's goal-scoring opportunities, they failed to found a way to place the ball in the net. The Hungarian forward had another good chance in the 20th minute when he dribbled past Lech's players and found some space to shoot. However, his shot wasnt on target and neither was Kucharczyk's attempt 5 minutes later.
Lech rarely attacked and was rather focused on counterattacks and remained very cautious. Nonetheless, in the 31st minute Lech could have scored second goal when Pawlowski sent a precise volley flying in the direction of Legia's goal, but fortunately for the hosts the goalkeeper managed to redirect the ball. Both sides had many goal-scoring opportunities, but because of Legia's inefficiency and Lech's solid defending, when the referee whistled halftime, the scoreboard showed a one-goal lead of the team from Poznan.
The second half looked similar since Legia was concentrated on scoring an equalizer and their domination grew with very minute, but the hosts didn't seem any closer to getting that goal. Lech was defending, often with all the 11 players, and they did it well enough not to let Legia pass through their defense. However, in the 71st minute the team from Warsaw caused some trouble to the defenders from Poznan. Buric managed to stop Brzyski's massive shot, but he redirected it right to the rival and if it wasn't for Legia's inefficiency, the score would have changed.
The last 15 minutes forced Buric to intervene numerous times and Lech's defense to be extremely careful and alerted since Legia was solely focused on the attacks and seemed relentless in its attempts. The team from Poznan tried attacking too, however solid defending was the priority and since Lech made little mistakes that Legia failed to convert into goals, when the referee whistled for the last time the players from Poznan raised their hands with joy. The 3 points collected in Warsaw allowed Lech to start its march up the league rank.
