On Easter Monday, Lech Poznań travelled to Mielec, where they faced the located team called Stal. Shortly before the recent international break, Mariusz Rumak’s squad finally put an end to the long streak without a win by defeating Warta Poznań 2:0. However, the clash with Stal was predicted to be a big challenge as the hosts have been the best top-division side in the spring round.
Stal dominated in the opening minutes of the match – they successfully pushed Lech back into defence. Kiereś’s team regularly caused problems for Lech’s defenders with crosses from corner kicks and both flanks. However, Bartosz Salamon and Miha Blazić efficiency stopped the attempts. Finally, half an hour into the match, Rumak’s players started taking control and even created two good goal-scoring chances – Filip Marchwiński’s dangerous shot was stopped by Stal’s keeper, and Filip Szymczak’s attempt was blocked by Krystian Getinger, who was positioned on the goal line.
The second half belonged to the team from Poznań, however, the lack of precision in the last phase of their offensive attempt meant that Mateusz Kochalski didn’t have much to do in the second 45 minutes. The fans gathered at the stadium in Mielec didn’t witness any goals on Monday afternoon, therefore both teams were awarded one point for the draw.
