Sobol debuts for the first team

The forward transferred to Lech’s Academy from DKS Dobre Miasto in 2015. Shortly afterwards, the youngsters made his debut in Poland’s U-16 National Team. Together with the Younger Juniors, Sobol won the Polish Championships in this age category in 2017. A year later, he triumphed once more, but this time he competed for Older Juniors. This incredibly successful period in his career led him to his debut for the senior team.

“Debuting in Ekstraklasa is an amazing feeling. I have worked all my life to make a debut, to play at least 2 minutes in the Polish top division. Entering adult football is a fantastic feeling. Now I need to ensure I am not swept away and that I work hard to get more opportunities and more minutes on the pitch,” said the 18-year-old.

Sobol approached the sidelines in the injury time. A moment later, he replaced Joao Amaral on the pitch and his dream to debut in Ekstraklasa became a reality. “Stress before coming on the pitch? I don’t think so. I was very calm. I was happy but also concentrated. Even when you play only 2 or 3 minutes, they are crucial. We were up 1:0 and our task was to defend the score. There was no stress. I do what I love; at that moment, I came on the pitch and did what I was supposed to,” explained Sobol.

The next 6 months are going to be an important period in the youngster’s career. His personal goals also include wearing the national shirt. The Polish U-20 National Team will be competing in and hosting the World Championships in 2019. “I have a couple of goals for the next 6 months. The first one is hard work. From there onwards, we will see what happens, what the coach decides, and how everything else unfolds. The key objective is to impress the national team coaching staff and show the main coach of U-20 team that I should go to the 2019 World Cup, especially since that is one of my goals for the nearest future,” summarized the youngster.
