Lech beat Slask Wroclaw 1:0 in the 3rd league game of the season. The team from Poznan has a maximum numer of points after the three league rounds.
Lech’s players were the first ones to attack but Amaral’s attempt from the opening minutes of the match was off target. Shortly afterward, Slask won a couple of corner kicks within a short period of time, but the players from Wroclaw failed to convert the set pieces into shots on target. Lech replied with a counterattack which was successfully stopped by their rival at a crucial moment. Both defensive lines did a decent job when dealing with rapid offensive actions.
In the 20th minute, Slask had an opportunity to score. Cholewiak sent a strong pass into the box where Piech was waiting. The latter spotted Chrapka and left the ball for him to place in the back of the net. However, before the Slask footballer sent the ball flying into the goal, the linesman raised his flag signalising an offside. Piech had an opportunity to score a couple of minutes later but his attempt was off target. Slask dominated the match and remained in possession of the ball for long periods of time, building numerous scoring chances, most of which were stopped by the linesman.
In the 38th minute, Slask was given a free kick that Ahmadzadeh converted into a precise shot but his attempt was weak enough for Putnocky to save. Lech replied with an unsuccessful attack, followed by Putnocky’s mistake which could have cost Lech a goal if it wasn’t for his teammates.
The second half started off with Piech's slightly imprecise shot at Lech’s goal. In the 52nd minute, Slask scored once more when the striker sent a header into the back of the net but the linesman signalised an offside again. Lech Poznan responded with a decent counterattack that Amaral failed to convert into a goal.
Putnocky was forced to intervene numerous times whilst his teammates lacked precision in the offensive. Slask kept on placing the ball in the back of the net but they were caught offside every single time. In the 67th minute, Pich scored but the linesman made no mistake and the goal was disallowed. The team from Wroclaw also tried shooting from outside the box but they failed.
In the 83rd minute, Lech took the lead. Jozwiak led the offensive action with an individual run that he finished off with a pass to Tiba who was waiting in the box. The latter dribbled past one of the defenders and placed the ball in the back of the net. Slask scored for the fourth time that evening when Robak converted a precise pass into a header, but Lech’s offside trap was flawless on Sunday. The guests attacked until the final whistle but they failed to beat Lech’s defensive line and it was the team from Poznan that collected 3 points.
