“The team from Wroclaw employs an offensive style of play, but that suits us well. In addition, the fans enjoy more watching matches where both teams play offensive, open football,” explained Maciej Gajos ahead of the Sunday clash with Slask Wroclaw.
So far Slask has 19 goals on its account this season and 13 of them were scored in away games. The offensive character of Lech’s Sunday rival is surely going to make the game more attractive to the fans. “When both teams concentrate on attacking, there is more space on the pitch for the footballers. That makes the clashes more exhilarating and attracts a larger audience. Neither will we, nor will Slask focus solely on the defensive play on Sunday, therefore the fans can expect a great match,” said Gajos.
Mariusz Rumak’s team is experiencing a successful run recently. Slask hasn’t lost a single game in the past 4 rounds of Lotto Ekstraklasa. Before the national team groupings’, the team from Wroclaw beat Zaglebie Lubin 2:1. “Our rival has been successful recently and they have been collecting valuable points. However, we are the ones playing at home. We aren’t worried about the match. After a meticulous analysis we will get to know Slask’s strengths and weaknesses and we will convert it into a performance that is hopeful going to result in three points,” explained Lech’s player.
The last clash between Lech and Slask ended with a goalless draw. Lech’s players openly showed their disappointment with the score, pointing out the fact that it was the team from Poznan who controlled most of the match. “It wasn’t a result we expected. As far as I remember, we were in control of the play and we had more scoring chances. We failed to win and therefore we came back to Poznan disappointed,” told us Gajos.
