Lech Poznan drew in an away league clash with Sandecja Nowy Sacz. It’s Lech’s 7th tie this season.
Lech dominated the match since the opening minutes, whilst Sandecja moved deeper into the defense. The league’s newcomers didn’t leave their half of the pitch for over 15 minutes. In the 10th minute Dilaver got a good scoring chance following a corner kick, but his header was slightly off target.
Just when it seemed that Lech would score within minutes, it was Sandecja that could have taken the lead. In the 19th minute Brzyski sent the ball into the box where Trochim was waiting, however, Putnocky intervened successfully.
The team from Poznan was in possession of the ball for the majority of the match but managed to build good scoring chances only following set pieces. In the first half of the match Lech was given 8 free kick, but none of them resulted in a goal. Majewski had a decent opportunity to score before halftime, however, his attempt was blocked by one of the defenders.
Shortly after the two sides switched sides, Sandecja had a couple of good goal scoring chances. One of the hosts’ offensive action was finished off by Trochim, but his attempt was too weak to cause problems to Putnocky. Lech responded with Kostevych’s shot from outside the box which was slightly off target. Gytkjaer’s attempt was imprecise too.
Lech struggled to find a way to beat Sandecja’s defensive line. Paradoxically, the hosts had better scoring chances. During the second half, the team from Nowy Sacz remained in possession of the ball for long periods of time and occasionally caused problems to Lech’s defenders. For instance, Trochim’s attempt from a free kick was just slightly off target. Bjelica sent in Barkroth and Radut hoping they would bring some fresh energy to Lech’s offensive line, but the two substitutions didn’t have a desirable impact on the match.
Lech’s passes were imprecise and although the team from Poznan manager to enclose their rival on their own half of the pitch, they didn’t have an idea how to beat Sandecja’s defenders. In the 89th minute, Rakels could have scored following an iffy save from Sandecja’s keeper, but his shot was blocked by one of the defenders. Meanwhile, Barkroth’s attempt was off target, therefore, the match ended with a goalless draw.
