Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała – Lech Poznań 1:0 

Lech was an undoubtful favourite in the clash with the rival from Bielsko-Biała. A recent impressive win against Lechia Gdańsk (3:0) was meant to get the team from Poznań back on the right, aka winning, track. The match against Podbeskidzie seemed a formality, especially considering that the two teams already faced each other this season and Lech won 4:0. The fans from Poznań expected their team to collect all three points on Friday evening.

However, to everyone’s surprise, ever since the first whistle, Lech found the match in Bielsko-Biała to be a struggle. Their offensive attempts were far from effortless and goal-scoring opportunities were few. Podbeskidzie didn’t look much better, hence both teams wanted to forget the first half as soon as the referee announced halftime. In the second part of the game, it seemed that Lech had everything under perfect control until Podbeskidzie unexpectedly scored a goal. Lubomir Satka’s mistake resulted in Marko Roginic recovering the ball and scoring what might be the goal of this career from outside the box. Van der Hart was helpless as the ball fell into the upper corner of the net.

Lech had another 15 minutes to fight for points but Podbeskidzie cleverly moved deeper into the defence and guarded their goal fiercely, making it impossible for the team from Poznań to break their defensive line. As a result, the hosts – who are currently fighting to avoid relegation – won important three points.

On May 1st, Lech Poznań will have an opportunity to make it up to their fans as they face Stal Mielec in a home game at 8 pm.
