Players tested for COVID-19

The last few weeks saw continued efforts to win with coronavirus but also mobilisation for football competition to restart. Following individual training sessions, players and coaching staff will now enter a new phase of league’s resumption – COVID-19 tests.

All football fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the national competition to restart as soon as possible. Every day we are a step closer to Ekstraklasa’s resumption. On May 4th, another key phase of the preparations began. Throughout the past week, players were working individually at home and after parks and forests were reopened, their fitness plan also incorporated outdoor runs. The next step was for the squad and coaches to undergo tests for the presence of COVID-19. The tests were held at the stadium on Monday morning. Apart from the footballers and the coaching staff, a few additional employees were also tested, including Lech’s Press Officer, Maciej Henszel.

“Everyone who was obliged to self-isolate for the past two weeks now had to undergo tests which began at 7:30 am. As per the prepared schedule, players, coaches, and the staff members who are crucial for team’s operations, appeared one-by-one in 5-minute intervals and had their blood taken. The whole procedure was carried out successfully and in accordance with all safety measures,” explained Lech’s Press Officer.

The results will be known within 24 hours and starting from Tuesday, players will be able to train in bigger groups at the stadium. If everything goes according to plan, in the last week of May the Polish clubs will reappear on the pitches. On May 27th, Lech will face Stal Mielec in the quarterfinals of Totolotek Polish Cup, and 3 days later the squad is going to compete in a home league clash against Legia.
