Shortly after advancing to the group phase of Europa League, Lech got another valuable Ekstraklasa win. The team from Poznań beat Piast Gliwice 4:1 in an away clash.
Lech Poznań opened the scoreboard very early, that is in the 6th minute. Satka’s precise cross from the corner kick reached Moder who first initiated a shot with his right foot, and then cleverly placed the ball in the net with his left foot. Plach had no chance of saving the shot.
The fans had to wait until the 44th minute for another goal. This time Lech initiated a counterattack following Piast’s set-piece and Kamiński set up Ramirez with a perfect pass that the Spaniard effortlessly and effectively converted into a second goal.
Lech remained in control of the game in the second half and kept on looking for chances to change the score again. 15 minutes into the second part of the game, Marchwiński placed the ball in the back of the net, and in the 74th minute, Kacharava converted a penalty kick on Puchacz into a third goal. It was the Georgian forward’s debut goal for Lech.
Piast managed to get one goal late in the match. Satka’s foul on Alves was spotted by the referee and Żyro didn’t waste the perfect goal-scoring opportunity.
