Pedro Tiba reached an agreement with Lech Poznań. The Portuguese footballer passed medical tests and signed a 3-year contract with the Polish club.
Tiba is a homegrown player of CA Valdevez. In the past, the footballer competed for AGS Kastoria (Greece), as well as Vitoria Setubal, Sporting Braga (Portugal), and Real Valladolid (Spain). The 29-year old usually plays as an offensive midfielder but he can also be positioned behind the striker.
“Pedro is meant to strengthen the rivalry in the midfield. His characteristics include mobility, responsibility, commitment and very good technical and tactical skills. His strengths also are: the ability to control the tempo of the game and to remain in possession of the ball, long balls, and shots from outside the box,” said Tomasz Wichniarek, Lech’s Scouting Director.
The past year-and-a-half, Pedro spent on loan in GD Chaves where he was sent from SC Braga. In the previous season, his team finished 6th in the league. In total, the Portuguese player appeared in 34 games last season, scored 11 times, and got 7 assists. “He played in a stronger league than the Polish one and he captained a team that finished 6th. If he manages to perform similarly on the Polish pitches, he will strengthen the team significantly,” added Wichniarek.
The footballer also expressed his joy. The 29-year-old emphasised his ambition to fight for trophies. “I had a couple of offers from other clubs but I decided to join Lech because here I can fight for titles. I know that the goal for the upcoming season is to win the league and that is why I came to Poznan,” explained Pedro Tiba and added, “I am a team player and I always give it all. However, I’d rather not speak too much about myself. I prefer for the fans to see and judge me personally. My performances speak for themselves.”
Tiba is Lech’s 3rd transfer this season, following Tomasz Cywka and Karol Szymański.
