All the formalities have been finalised and Patrik Wålemark is now a Lech Poznań player. The 22-year-old Swedish winger joined the Polish club on a year-long loan from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The agreement includes an option of a permanent transfer.
We wtorek w południe wszystkie formalności zostały już dopięte. Patrik arrived in Poznań on Sunday along with his manager and father with whom he watched Lech’s match against Pogoń Szczecin (2:0). On Monday, the winger underwent medical tests before signing a contract with Lech on Tuesday afternoon.
“Patrik Wålemark has joined us on a year-long loan from Feyenoord Rotterdam. What’s important is that the contract includes a buyout clause. We knew the winger from when he played in the Swedish league, but back then he was beyond our reach. We have been observing the situation since the beginning of this transfer window, but only about a week ago an opportunity to bring Patrik to Lech arose. Even though there was competition, we managed to convince Patrik to join our project. He is still a young player with a big potential. He is fast, dribbles effortlessly, and is capable of firing a strong shot. We hope he will be a strong reinforcement of our squad,” explained Tomasz Rząsa, Lech’s Sporting Director.
The 22-year-old player made his debut in Allsvenskan in June 2020 whilst competing for BK Häcken. In his first season in the Swedish top division, he scored 3 goals and assisted his teammates 5 times. In the following campaign, he found the back of the net 9 times and added 8 assists. In January 2022, Wålemark joined Feyenoord Rotterdam on a permanent transfer. In the few months following the transfer, Patrik and his teammates reached the Europa Conference League final and the Swede even made a short appearance in the decisive clash with AS Roma (0:1). In the past 18 months, the winger played in 36 matches for Feyenoord (3 goals and 3 assists). Wålemark spent the season 2023/2024 on loan at SC Heerenveen where he got 3 goals and 4 assists in 24 league matches.
“I am happy and excited to be joining Lech Poznań. I watched the Sunday match against Pogoń Szczecin and felt the brilliant atmosphere. It was really loud. From the very beginning, I knew that it was a big club. I have also spoken to the captain, Mikael Ishak, and he told me more about the team, and the fans, and I was positively impressed,” highlighted the Swede.
Patrik Wålemark will play with number 10 on his back. On Tuesday afternoon he will participate in the first training session with his new teammates.
