Mikael Ishak started his first season at Lech Poznań brilliantly. We would have to go back a long way in the history books to find a striker with similar statistics. “It’s important to start scoring very early in order to show that you deserve to be a part of the team,” explained Ishak.
The adaption process has been going very smoothly for the Swedish forward. The player has been making the most of the minutes spent on the pitch. It only took him 135 minutes to get a debut goal and even less to further improve the goal-scoring statistics. After 4 matches, the striker has got 4 goals on his account. If we were to look at the achievements of forwards playing for Lech over the past 20 years – and there are some impressive names on the list – only Robert Lewandowski has had such an impressive start of the season. Meanwhile, Artjoms Rudnievs managed to find the back of the net 3 times in 4 games.
There is another comparison that can be drawn between the Pole and the Swede – both players kicked off the season by scoring in two different competitions, Europa League qualifiers and the league matches. However, Ishak needed much less time to find the back of the net 4 times – to be exact, 15 days.
“It’s important for a forward to starting scoring very early in order to show that you deserve to be a part of the team. I wanted to prove that I am worthy of representing Lech and I hope that I have achieved that,” emphasised Ishak.
The Swede will get another chance to improve his personal statistics during the upcoming weekend. The team from Poznań will resume the league competition after an international break with an away clash against Śląsk Wrocław.
