“As a team, we always give our all to win a match. That maximum effort and commitment don’t only relate to the players, but also to all remaining staff working for the club,” highlighted Lech’s coach, Dariusz Skrzypczak.
The countdown ahead of the upcoming league clash with Raków Częstochowa has begun. It will be the opening match of the spring round. “The objectives we have set at the very beginning of the season remain unchanged. We are aiming for the Championship title and Polish Cup trophy. We are fully aware that most of our players are young, however, Piast’s performance last season is an example we always keep in mind. In football, everything is possible,” explained Lech’s assistant coach.
Last week, the squad returned from Belek, Turkey where the winter break training camp took place. Both the players and the coaching staff were satisfied with how the preparations went. The training sessions and friendly games against top-division sides from strong European leagues gave plenty of reasons to look ahead at the remaining bit of the season with optimism. “The weather is Turkey was a nice surprise – last year it rained a lot, whereas this time it barely did. Perfect temperature, great pitches, brilliant teams to play against... To summarise, we fulfilled our plan,” said coach Skrzypczak.
“During training matches, you gain confidence in yourself and your skills. Hence, every win, every good result has a positive impact on your self-esteem. Even though there is nothing at stake, the goal should always be to win, regardless of the level you’re playing on,” emphasised Żuraw’s assistant coach.
“We try to remain optimistic and our job is to bring the best out of each player. There are positions with plenty of candidates to fill the spot, however, there are those where we don’t have such a comfort. I am sure that the winter transfer window isn’t over for us yet. I am hoping that whoever joins the squad will be aware of what they’re up against. Players who arrive in winter are thrown into deep water; we try to help them adapt as quickly as possible so that they can perform well right from the start,” explained Dariusz Skrzypczak.
