FC Basel is a proud hosts of the countries' largest football stadium. St. Jakob-Park can fit as many as 38 thousand fans. Last season the stadium was full when FC Basel faced Real Madrid and Liverpool FC.
The home ground of the Swiss Champions has been built for three years and the official opening took place on March 15th 2001. 7 years ago, when St. Jakob-Park was one of the EURO 2008 stadiums, the stand could fit as many as 42 500 fans. After the tournament the capacity was reduced to 38 512 spectators.
On FC Basel's home ground, aside from shops, there are two restaurants, offices to lend and apartments. The stadium has its own train station and a parking, too.
Next year the final of Europa League 2015/2016 will take place on St. Jakob-Park.
