Seventeen Lech Poznań players were called up by their national team coaches. Kristoffer Velde will have an opportunity to make a debut for Norway, whereas Gio Tsitaishvili and Afonso Sousa will face each other at the U-21 European Championship.
Michał Skóraś has once again received a call-up from Fernando Santos. The past campaign has been the winger’s best one so far and the Polish national team coach is recognizing the young player for the second time. During the last international break, the 23-year-old made two appearances and got his first assist in the clash with the Czech Republic (1:3). In the upcoming days, the Polish squad is going to play a friendly against Germany, and then they will face Moldavia in European Championship qualifiers.
For Jesper Karlström, the international break will look similar. First, Sweden will play a friendly against New Zealand, and then, a few days later, Karlström’s squad will face Austria in a Euro 2024 qualifier. Nika Kvekveskiri and his teammates have two qualifying games ahead of them. So far, the Georgian squad have won just one point in the European Championship qualifications. Now they will compete against Cyprus and Scotland. Kristoffer Velde will have an opportunity for an official debut against those same rivals. The winger received his first senior-team call-up. Meanwhile, the Slovakian national team is in a comfortable position when it comes to Euro 2024 qualifiers. Lubomir Šatka and his teammates have 4 points and are currently placed 2nd in their group. To hold onto the position, Slovakia will need to deliver against Iceland and Lichtenstein.
On June 21st, the U-21 European Championship begin. In the opening match, between Georgia and Portugal, two Lech Poznań players will have a chance to make an appearance - Gio Tsitaishvili for the hosts and Afonso Sousa for the Portuguese side. The two youngsters will later also face Belgium and the Netherlands, which are in the same group. Meanwhile, Filip Marchwiński, Krzysztof Bąkowski and Maksymilian Pingot have two friendly games scheduled – against Finland and Montenegro.
The upcoming international break is an important one for Jakub Antczak and Antoni Kozubal. Marcin Brosz’s squad will compete in the U-19 European Championship which starts at the beginning of July. The Polish team is in the same group as Portugal, Italy, and the hosts – Malta. Meanwhile, Maksymilian Dziuba and Bartosz Tomaszewski were called up by the U-18 Polish coach for the friendlies against Slovenia and Montenegro. Their younger colleagues - Kamil Jakóbczyk, Damian Sokołowski and Igor Stankiewicz – have a two-leg friendly game against Norway scheduled.
