Thirteen Lech Poznań players from the senior and junior teams have been called up by their national teams. Four of them will compete in the World Cup playoffs. In addition, Lech’s female player Maja Kuleczka will be joining the U-17 Polish squad.
After nearly 6 years, Bartosz Salamon returns to the Polish national team. Together with Lech’s defender Tomasz Kędziora, they have been called up for Poland’s two upcoming games – a friendly against Scotland and a 2022 World Cup playoff match against the winner of Sweden vs Czech Republic clash. In addition, Jesper Karlström, who represents Sweden, will get a chance to appear in the playoffs for this year’s tournament in Qatar. On March 24th, Sweden will face the Czech Republic and if they manage to beat their rival, they will play against Poland in Chorzów 5 days later. The winner will get a spot in the World Cup group phase.
Lubomir Šatka has also been called up by his national team coach. Slovakia has two friendly games scheduled for March – against Norway and Finland. Meanwhile, Nika Kvekveskiri who has recently been appointed Georgia’s vice-captain is also going to join his teammates from the national team for the friendlies against Bosnia and Hercegovina, and Albania.
In the mean time, Jakub Kamiński, Michał Skóraś and Filip Marchwiński will compete in the qualifiers for the U-21 European Championship. Thanks to confident wins against Germany (4:0) and Latvia (5:0), the Polish squad has a high chance of qualifying for the tournament. To achieve their objective, the U-21 players need to win points in both upcoming games – against Israel and Hungary.
Two Lech youth strikers – Filip Szymczak (U-20) and Norbert Pacławski (U-18) – will have a chance to represent their country in friendly games. The U-20 squad will face England and the Czech Republic, whereas their younger teammates are going to play twice against Switzerland. Similarly, the Polish U-15 squad also scheduled two games with the same rival - Igor Brzyski and Jan Kniat will have an opportunity to appear in the clashes with Slovenia.
Meanwhile, Lech’s female player – Maja Kuleczka – has important matches ahead of her. The Polish U-17 squad will fight for a spot at the European Championship against Croatia, England, and France.
