On Tuesday, Lech Poznan finalized the transfer of Mickey van der Hart. The former PEC Zwolle goalkeeper signed a 3-year contract with an extension clause.
The 24-year-old keeper who was born in Amstelveen Amsterdam started his football career at Ajax where he climbed up the academy ladder. Van der Hart successfully debuted in Ajax’s senior team during a Dutch Cup match, however, it was his only appearance for the Eredivisie champion’s first team.
At the end of the 2013/14 season, van der Hart was sent on loan to Go Ahead Eagles where he debuted in Dutch top division and appeared in 22 matches in total, keeping the sheet clean 5 times. Following the end of the campaign, he moved to PEC Zwolle where he has been playing ever since. During the most recent season, van der Hart was put in the goal 29 times out of which 11 times his team didn’t concede a single goal. In addition, only a couple of days ago, Zwolle’s fans awarded van der Hart with the title Player of The Season.
“We are glad to have Mickey on board. He’s Ajax’s homegrown player and therefore received excellent training. He’s skilled at using both feet and his reflex is also impressive. Despite his young age, van der Hart has already got over 100 league caps on his account. He has an immense potential,” commented Tomasz Rzasa, Lech’s sporting director.
The goalkeeper himself is equally excited to be joining the Polish club. “I am happy and proud to be here today. It’s a really big step in my career. I won’t deny that I moved here in order to win trophies. I believe Lech is capable of fighting for the very top, every season. When it comes to my individual goals, I want to be the league’s best goalkeeper. I know that the past season hasn’t been a successful one for Lech, but I know that in the next campaign we will turn it around,” explained the club’s newest addition.
Van der Hart is the first player to join Lech Poznan in this transfer window. The Dutch keeper is going to meet his new teammates on 13th of June when the pre-season kicks off.
