On Thursday, the reserves team player Filip Marchwiński signed a 3-year contract with Lech Poznan. “Filip has joined our club 9 years ago. The fact that many top international clubs are interested in him shows how talented Filip is. We are very happy that he trusted us with his development,” explained Tomasz Rzasa, Lech’s Sporting Director.
Marchwiński was born in 2002 in Poznan. He started his football career at UKS Skorzewo club and in 2009 he joined Lech Poznan Academy where he has been playing for the past 9 years. “At UKS I was able to play with the ball as much as I wanted to and received guidance from great coaches. The dream to become a footballer has only appeared after I joined Lech,” said the 16-year-old.
In 2016, Marchwiński joined the players who train in Wronki. Since then, he has been climbing the hierarchical ladder rapidly and has recently become a part of the reserves team. So far, he played in 9 third-division matches and scored 3 goals.
The representative of Polish youth national teams is focusing on his personal development. What are his goals for the nearest future? “I don’t know what it’s like to wear a shirt of another club, hence Lech means a lot to me. My dream is to make my debut for the senior team – an objective that has had a significant impact on the decision I took and the plans I made together with my parents,” emphasised the youngster.
Marchwiński believes that the key to success is the hard work put into the everyday training sessions. Therefore, the player dismisses the compliments received when he competes for the reserves team. “I hope that neither my family nor the club and the fans will ever be ashamed of me and that my hard work will get me far. I know people put a lot of hope in me; I am not going to let them down,” said the footballers reassuringly.
