Filip Marchwiński has extended his agreement with Lech Poznan. On Thursday, the young midfielder signed his second professional contract which will last for the upcoming 3.5 years.
The 18-year-old is Lech’s homegrown player. He debuted in the first team back on December 16th, 2018 against Zaglebie Sosnowiec. Lech Poznan won 6:0 in that match and the young star got his first goal. Since then, Marchwiński appeared on the pitch alongside his senior teammates 20 times, scored 4 goals and got one assist.
“Filip has only recently turned 18 but he’s already got an impressive skill set and even bigger potential. He is our homegrown player – a great example of how you can climb up the club structure and successfully compete for a spot in the starting line-up despite the young age. We have no doubt that if Marchwiński continues progressing the way he has been, we will achieve great things, not only at Lech but also abroad and for the national team,” emphasised Tomasz Rząsa, Lech’s Sporting Director.
Marchwiński signed his first professional contract with the club on November 22nd, 2018 and it was going to expire in June 2021. However, since both sides reach an agreement, the youngster decided to extend his deal for an extra 2 years.
“Lech is like a second home to me – this is where I’m being raised as an athlete. I’m not only a player but also a great fan ever since I was a kid. I am hoping that my performances will give the supporters plenty of reasons to rejoice, and that together with the club I will achieve a lot, both on the national and international arena,” highlighted Marchwiński.
This season, the young player has appeared in 7 matches and scored one goal (against Wisła Cracow). In the most recent league clash against Raków, the 18-year-old played 90 minutes.
