The match against Slask Wroclaw was one of Linetty's best performances this season. The young midfielder spoke shortly about the recent game and the upcoming clash with Lechia Gdansk.
On Wednesday evening you beat Slask Wroclaw without a hesitation, which only proves that the recent loss with Jagiellonia Bialystok was only a one-time mistake. Do you agree?
To some extent we did manage to put behind the loss with Jagiellonia. However, the match is still on our minds. It's not that easy to forget a loss that took place at our own stadium which should have been unconquerable. For a long time the stadium was unassailable and that is why the lost match was a blow. We wanted to make up for the result in the game with Slask and show it was only a one-time mistake. We are marching for the championship and we will do our best to win it. This is our goal.
However, the team from Wroclaw began the match better than you did and for the first 10 minutes they did not leave your half of the pitch. Did you expect such an intensive pressure from your rivals?
Slask did not surprise us at all. Three weeks ago when we last faced each other the game looked the same. Now, just as it happened last time, we held through the attacks and then we were the ones to attack. We reacted with the tree goals which practically set the whole match.
After halftime you slowed down the tempo. You did not try to score a goal by all means, like you did in the first half. Why was it so?
After the halftime we were controlling the game. A three-goal lead is a big advantage and we did not want to undermine it in some reckless way because that could have caused aggravation among our team. In addition, we played really well in the defense. We did not allow our opponents to create any chance that could have ended with a goal. We had some opportunities to change the result, but we did not succeed to do so. Nonetheless we are happy with the win and the joy we were able to give to the fans.
You are the one who should be praised for the match. It's not the first time this season that you have been one of the best players on the pitch.
Thank you for the kind words, but I dont want to overrate my skills. I think that the whole team played really well. If you win 3:0, there isn't anyone you can really criticize. Hopefully this is how we will play in all the upcoming games and then the championship will return to Poznan.
You don't have a lot of time to rest because on Sunday you have another tough match to play, this time in Gdansk against Lechia. Do you fear this opponent?
We are aware that we are to play a tough match. In addition, we will play on their home ground where the majority of the fans will be against us. But we have to deal with it and prove that on the pitch we are the better team. We are heading to Gdansk to get all three points and we will give our all to succeed. We are the leaders and we want to make sure that this is how it will stay till the end of the season.
Last time you faced Lechia was nearly 6 months ago, on December 13th last year. That's when you beat them 1:0. Following that match new players have joined Lechia. Do you think the team is stronger now?
I have watched a few of their games in the spring round and I think it is a completely different team than the one we faced a couple of months ago. In the winter transfer window a few experienced players joined Lechia and brought calm into their game which has already brought visible results. Every single match is different so the December game is of no importance. Even though last time we have won with Lechia, we still have a lot of respect for this team.
