One of Lech's best homegrown players has just renewed his contract. The young midfielder signed a contract that extends his agreement with Lech until June 2018. "Playing in the Premier League remains my dream, but Lech is equally important to me," said Linetty.
For Linetty Lech Poznan is an equivalent of home. Even though the midfielder started his football career in Sokol Damaslawek, his adventure with professional football began in Lech's Academy. He made his first appearance in the senior team at the age of 18 and in the next 3 seasons he played 85 matches and even debuted for the Polish National Team. At the end of summer people talked about Linetty's transfer to Brugge, but in the end the midfielder stayed at home.
"It doesn't bother me at all because playing for Lech is one of the most important parts of my whole life," explained Linetty. "I still dream about playing in Western Europe, especially in Premier League, but Lech is equally important to me. For more than half of my life, since I was 9, I was a fan of the club from Poznan, and therefore I want to be fair [for the club] because after all I was raised here."
The 20 year-old signed a new, 2 year-long contract with Lech that expires on July 1st 2016.
"Karol is our homegrown player and that changes things, while we care deeply about his future," explained Lech's vice-president, Piotr Rutkowski. "We reached an agreement within a few weeks. The attitude of the player himself and his agents was very professional, and therefore I want to express my gratitude for the trust given to the club. There is a great career ahead of Karol and that is what we wish him."
