For the first time
Tamas Kadar and Gergo Lovrencsics are Lech's first foreign players that have been called up for the European Championships. Never before has a foreign footballer representing Lech gotten a chance to play in Euro.
The Hungarians are going to fight in the European Championships for the first time since 30 years. Kadar and Lovrencsics have been a part of the starting lineup of the Hungarian National Team and thus played a big role in the Hungarians' hard-fought qualification to the tournament.
The Hungarian team is going to compete in group F and their first game is planned for June 14th and that is when the players are going to face Austria. Later on, the Hungarians will also face Iceland and Portugal.
The fourth Pole
It is the third time in a row that the Polish National Team is going to compete in Euro. 4 years ago Rafal Murawski, Grzegorz Wojtkowiak and Marcin Kaminski, who used to represent Lech, were called up to play at the tournament. Meanwhile, in 2008 (Murawski), as well as this year, only one Pole playing for Lech travelled to the European Championships.
The coach of the Polish National Team decided to take Karol Linetty with him to France. The 21 year-old, together with Kapustka and Stepinski, is among the youngest players to compete in Euro 2016.
The Poles are going to play their first match on Sunday, June 12th, against Northern Ireland. Later on, the Polish team will face Germans and Ukrainians.
