Lech lost the recent league clash with Lechia Gdansk 1:2. Marcin Robak scored the only goal for the team from Poznan.
It was Lechia that dominated the first part of the match through possession of the ball and multiple offensive actions. However, in the 5th minute Lechia received a warning when Makuszewski received a pass from Robak and converted the ball into a shot. The attempt was blocked by Nunes and in response Wolski tried to surprise Buric twice, but in both cases he failed to place the ball in the net.
Makuszewski was one of the most active players on the pitch, causing trouble to Lechia’s defender with his fast-paced offensive actions. Thus, even though Lechia dominated the game, it was Lech that had more goal-scoring opportunities. In the 30th minute the guests enclosed Lechia in its penalty area. Makuszewski, Tralka and Robak fired a few shots at the goal, but none was good enough to pass the goalkeeper.
5 minutes later Bjelica’s players took the lead. Makuszewski played a key role by sending a great cross into the box that Robak converted into a header. However, Lech’s joy lasted short since 3 minutes later it was already 1:1. Krasic turned a corner kick into a precise cross and Paixao placed the ball in the net at his second attempt.
Shortly after the break Lechia got another good goal-scoring opportunity when Paixao found enough space to fire a shot from outside the box. It was one of Lechia’s few offensive actions in the second half. It was Lech that gradually started to dominate the play and in the 57th minute the team from Poznan could have taken the lead. Makuszewski sent a cross into the box from the right flank, straight to Robak, but the goalkeeper turned out to be better than Lech’s forward. 2 minutes later Makuszewski led a great individual offensive action. The winger dribbled past Wawrzyniak and fired a shot at an empty goal, but Maloca blocked the attempt at the last moment.
Majewski came in an hour into the game and brought some fresh energy to the team. The midfielder was very active and sought teammates to pass to, but also attempted to shoot by himself. Nevertheless, the player was unable to beat Lechia’s goalkeeper. However, in the 69th minute Lech got a great goal-scoring opportunity. Robak received a great pass from Makuszewski and fired two shots out on which one was saved by the goalkeeper and the other stopped on the crossbar. Lechia’s goalkeeper had to save another shot a few minutes later when Pawlowski attempted to surprise the goalkeeper again.
Bjelica also decided to send Formella and Jevtic on the pitch and both substitutions had a great impact on the match. The Swiss player was the main creator on the field and he had a couple of impressive passes that, if not for the lack of accuracy of the teammates’ shots, could have ended with a crucial goal. In the 84th minute Jevtic left Wawrzyniak behind and was blocked at the last moment. 2 minutes later Makuszewski crossed the ball into the box and Wilusz converted the pass into a header, but the shot did not fall into the back of the net. Lech turned out to be unlucky since despite a number of good chances to score, they eventually lost the game. In the 87th minute Chrapek received a pass from Peszko and fired a shot that neither Buric, nor Lech’s defenders were able to stop.
