Lech lost the 29th league match of the season. The team from Poznan was beaten by Lechia Gdansk 0:1 in an away clash.
In the opening minutes of the first half, the two sides fought for the ball in the midfield, until Lechia finally took control of the game and converted their first scoring chance into a goal. The hosts were awarded a corner kick that was cleared by Lech’s defender. Augustyn won the loose ball, sent a cross into the box, and Sobiech redirected the ball into the net with his head. Lechia had a perfect opportunity to change the score to 2:0 just shortly afterwards, but in a one-on-one situation with the keeper, Mak hit the post. Haraslin also attempted to surprise Buric a couple of minutes later, however, his shot was off target.
Finally, the squad from Poznan started regaining control of the game but still struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities. Jevtic and Tralka both tried equalizing, however, their attempts lacked precision. Nevertheless, the game was played at a high pace and the direct clashes between the two teams were entertaining the fans. 10 minutes before the referee announced half-time, Jozwiak decided to fire an unexpected shot at Lechia’s goal but the ball flew above the crossbar. Vujadinovic’s header from a few minutes later was imprecise too. Meanwhile, Gumny’s individual offensive attack that followed could have resulted in an equalizer, however, there was no one in Lechia’s penalty area to redirect the ball into the net. Similarly, Jozwiak was determined to help his team win points but his second attempt was also off target.
The second half was played at a slower pace, yet Lechia managed to control the game. The hosts had multiple goal-scoring opportunities, such as the free kick they were awarded at the beginning of the second half, however, Haraslin and his teammates frequently hit the woodwork or their attempts were off target. Nonetheless, Lech’s defensive line needed to remain cautious since Lechia’s offensive players often caused them problems. Haraslin and Sobiech were very active but lacked precision.
Occasionally, Lech counterattacked, but their attempts were off target too. Lechia’s defensive line formed a solid wall that the team from Poznan struggled to overcome. In the injury time, Wasilewski came close to equalizing, but his header was successfully saved by the keeper. Despite all efforts win a point, Lech was defeated and returned home with a loss.
