Lech Poznan triumphed in the Polish Super Cup for the sixth time in the club's history. The team from Poznan beat Legia Warsaw 4:1 thanks to the goals of Makuszewski, Nielsen and Formella (double).
The opening minutes were played at a slow tempo and yet both sides managed to create goal-scoring opportunities. In the 14th minute Kucharczyk tried surprising Buric with a shot from a short distance, but the goalkeeper intervened without problems. Meanwhile, on the other side of the pitch Gumny decided for an individual run that the defender finished off with a strong shot. Nevertheless, Malarz stopped the ball from falling into the net.
However, in the 22nd minute the goalkeeper was left helpless. Makuszewski's shot from a free kick was precise and Malarz couldn't change the direction of the motion of the ball. Legia replied with an equalizer in the 36th minute when Aleksandrow sent a cross from the right flank into the penalty area and Guilherme redirected the ball into the back of the net. 3 minutes later Legia built another goal-scoring opportunity. This time Prijovic sent a cross from the left flank and Kucharczyk, who was left unmarked, redirected the ball, but not on target.
Shortly after the referee resumed the play, Lech got a chance to take the lead. Robak recovered the ball and was fouled immediately after. Gajos converted a free kick from the 25th meter into a shot that hit the post. It was one of the many goal-scoring opportunities Lech built in the second half.
In the 65th minute Majewski came on the pitch and converted a free kick into a cross that reached the penalty area. Tralka won the aerial clash and even though Malarz stopped the header, he was left helpless when Nielsen sent another shot in the direction of the goal.
Despite having taken the lead, Lech was forced to remain cautious. Nevertheless, the team from Poznan dominated the match. In the 90th minute Lech scored again. This time Formella was left unmarked and beat the goalkeeper with a flat shot by the post. Two minutes later the same player set the score to 4:1 with a shot by the further post.
