Lech Poznań signed the Croatian defender Antonio Milić. Having successfully passed medical tests, the 26-year-old finalised the agreement with a 2.5-year contract with an option to extend the deal for another year.
Milić is a homegrown player of Hajduk Split. He left the club at the age of 21 to join Belgian KV Oostende where he collected 115 appearances and earned a transfer to a renowned top-division team – Anderlecht. Milić competed in 25 games for the Purple & White, and in the season 2019/20 he joined Rayo Vallecano on loan and added another 20 matches on the Spanish pitches to his football resume.
“Until now, I got to play on three different defensive positions, however, centre-back is the one I like the most. Nonetheless, whenever the club needs me to be positioned on the left flank, I am more than happy to do it. I enjoy competing for teams that want to play attractive football and dominate on the pitch – that’s why I decided to join Lech. I know that they’re one of the biggest clubs in Poland and they’re always aiming for championship title – that’s the kind of objective that suits me,” explained Lech’s newest transfer.
“Milić also gained some experience playing for the Croatian national team. Since his debut back in 2018, he has got 3 appearances for the senior squad, but in the past, he also played regularly for Croatian youth teams. “Milić is a player that was recognised for his great talent at a very young age and transferred from Hajduk Split to Belgium where he gradually made his way into one of the top Belgian clubs, that is Anderlecht. He also gained experience in Spain where he was recently sent on loan. He is a centre-back that plays aggressively and positions himself high up the pitch, and thanks to his speed, he has no trouble beating his opponents in a one-on-one clash. In addition, Milić aligns perfectly with our style of play because he is a skilled playmaker,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
