Juliusz Letniowski joined Lech’s senior team. The 20-year-old midfielder signed a 3.5-year contract with an extension clause.
Letniowski is a homegrown player of Lechia Gdansk for which he competed since the age of 5. The 20-year-old is an offensive midfielder who spent the last 6 months at Bytovia Bytow. He appeared in 19 matches for the second-division side, scored 7 goals and assisted his teammates 3 times. During his career, he also had the chance to wear Baltyk Gdynia’s shirt.
“Despite his young age, Juliusz is a mature player which he proved during the past season whilst competing in the second division. We examined his technical and tactical skills which have had a crucial impact on a match numerous times. It didn’t take him long to become a leader at Bytovia Bytow,” explained Tomasz Rzasa, Lech’s Sporting Director. “We have been observing him for a while now, hence the decision to bring him to Poznan. Despite the fact that he is still young, Letniowski is capable of playing a key role in a team such as Bytovia. He has an amazing potential that can be developed. We are hoping that in the first division where the aims are different than in the lower tiers, he will develop, bloom and show what he is truly capable of,” added Rzasa.
Lechia Gdansk’s homegrown player is also thrilled about the upcoming challenges. “Signing a contract with a club as big as Lech is a brilliant experience for me. I am very glad that someone from the club noticed me. I am ready for the hard work that awaits. I think that every fan here in Poznan is hoping to win the Polish Championship. I came here to win the title,” emphasised the footballer himself.
Letniowski is the first player to join Lech in this winter transfer window. The youngster will join his new teammates on Monday.
