Nicklas Bärkroth has officially become a part of Lech’s team, having passed all medical tests. The contract signed will expire in June 2021.
“I admit that Nicklas’ transfer was one of our priorities this summer and the fact that we have finalised the deal is very good news,” explained Karol Klimczak, Lech’s chairman. “Bärkroth is one of the best wingers in the Swedish league and he has not only won a number of trophies throughout his career, but he also competed for Swedish national team. His attitude on the pitch, as well as his offensive and “aggressive” style of play will surely be enjoyable for Lech’s fans.”
The 25-year-old has previously played for IFK Norrkoping, the vice-champion of the Swedish league. Bärkroth also competed for IFK Goteborg, as well as IF Brommapojkarna and Uniao de Leira. In addition, the winger has 6 national team caps on his account.
Bärkroth was excited to have signed a deal with Lech. It was the second time that the Swedish player left his home country to continue his football career. “It is an amazing feeling. Lech has been impressive since the very beginning. I am determined to compete for a club which fights for trophies, focuses on titles and plays on the international arena. Lech has a good coach, strong squad and, therefore, that is a big step in my career, especially since I want to progress,” said the Swedish winger.
Last season Bärkroth appeared on the pitch 22 times in all competitions. He scored 4 goals and added 8 assists to his account. For most of his career, the winger competed on Swedish pitches where he debuted at the age of 15. In total, Bärkroth played for Allsvenskan in nearly 160 matches.
The Swede is Lech’s 4th summer transfer this year. Emir Dilaver, Mario Situm and Vernon De Marco have already joined Lech’s squad. In addition, Lech is close to finalising the deal with Deniss Rakels, however, before the player signs a contract with Lech, the club from Poznan needs to receive all the necessary documents from Rakels’ current club, Reading.
