The newest member of the Polish Ekstraklasa put up a tough fight and dominated the opening minutes of the match against Lech Poznan. In the 7th minute Wisla had its first goal-scoring opportunity. Furman converted a free kick from by the sideline into a cross right onto Lebedynski's head. Nevertheless, the player's header wasn't on target.
As the minutes passed the team from Poznan started regaining control over the match and remained in possession of the ball most of the time. However, Wisla's solid defense made it hard to fire any shot, all the more score a goal. Nevertheless, the experienced team from Poznan finally found a way to overcome the defense line. Jevtic sent a well-timed ball to Nicki Bille who instead of shooting, tried passing to Kownacki. However, since the defenders figured out the Dane's plans, Wisla recovered the ball successfully.
In the 24th minute Iliev decided for an individual run that Lebedynski finished off with a shot, but one that flew above the crossbar. 7 minutes later Lech scored the first goal. Wilusz was fouled inside the penalty area and the referee did not hesitate as he blew the whistle. Kownacki converted the penalty kick into a goal.
The second half began with Gajos' great offensive action. The player had a lot of space in front of the penalty area and decided for a shot that the goalkeeper found too hard to catch. Formella managed to recover the ball and placed it in the net with a shot by the further corner of the goal.
In the 64th minute the winger had another chance to score. This time is was Makuszewski that fired a shot at the rivals' goal, but Formella's attempt was slightly inaccurate. Wisla remained determined to score at least a goal. Piotrowski's cross into the penalty area caused some troubles to Lech's defense line, but it was Buric that won the aerial clash.
On the other end of the pitch Ceesay attempted to place the ball in the net a few times, however neither of his shots managed to surprise the goalkeeper. Formella and Kownacki had a goal-scoring opportunity too, but their attempts weren't on target, and thus when the referee ended the match, the scoreboard signalized a two-goal win for Lech.
