Second league match and second win – it’s the best start of the season Lech has had in years. The team from Poznań faced Radomiak Radom at home and triumphed 2:0.
Before facing Radomiak, Lech competed in the II round of Europa Conference League qualifiers where they beat FK Zalgiris Kauno 3:1. Despite playing a mid-week match, John van den Brom's squad looked good on Sunday. Lech was in control of the match, however, Radomiak didn’t make things easy for the hosts. Finally, in the 40th minute, the crowd at Bułgarska Street erupted with joy for the first time – Dino Hotić dribbled past Dawid Abramowicz and set Mikael Ishak with a pass that the Swede effortlessly converted into his first goal of the season.
Hotić played a great game and came close to getting a second assist and even hit the woodwork once. Shortly before the final whistle, Filip Szymczak – who came off the bench – dribbled past one of Radomiak’s defenders and finished off the individual attempt with a strong shot that was impossible to stop for the goalkeeper.
The three added points helped Lech climb to the top of the league table. On Thursday, the team from Poznań is going to face FK Żalgiris Kauno in the second leg of the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
