Lech Poznan beat Pogon Szczecin 2:0 in the 23rd league match of the season. Jevtic and Dilaver scored the goals for Lech, enabling the team from Poznan to remain third in the table.
Lech’s players were very determined to collect 3 points in the Sunday clash. They played quick and aggressive football since the first whistle, focusing on the offensive. In the first 15 minutes, Gytkjaer had two good scoring chances. However, so did Pogon. In the 15th minute, Piotrowski fired a shot at Lech’s goal that flew only a couple of centimeters above the crossbar.
5 minutes later the hosts converted one of their scoring chances into a goal. Gajos spotted Jevtic who was running into an empty space and sent his teammate a well-timed pass. The Swiss player ran along the goal line and fired a shot that left the goalkeeper helpless. The hosts were mobilized to keep on scoring. Shortly afterward, Majewski converted a free kick into an accurate shot that was saved by the keeper.
In the 33rd minute, Rapa made a mistake, enabling Gytkjaer to recover the ball near the box. The Dane’s attempt from outside the box caused problems to Pogon’s goalkeeper, but the ball did not fall into the back of the name. Jevtic had another goal-scoring opportunity before halftime when he received a long ball from Majewski, but the Swiss midfielder lost control of the ball.
Lech was the better team in the first half, operating the ball at a higher speed and creating chances easily. However, in the second half, Pogon seemed determined to take control of the game. A couple of minutes after halftime, Pogon’s coach sent in on the pitch Listkowski, an offensive midfielder, and then Buksa, a forward, emphasizing his team’s offensive tactics. The changes resulted in an improvement of the play and a number of scoring chances.
In the 64th minute, Pogon had the perfect chance to equalize when Drygas headed the ball towards Zwolinski and the latter sent a shot at Buric’s goal. However, the Bosnian goalkeeper intervened perfectly and raised his hands in pride.
The last quarter was dominated by the guests who weren’t going to give up without collecting at least a point. However, instead of equalizing, the team from Szczecin conceded the second goal in the 81st minute. Lech was given a free kick and Jevtic crossed the ball into the box where the Austrian defender was waiting to head the ball into the back of the net. Lech had a few more set pieces in the last couple of minutes, but none of them resulted in a goal and it was the team from Poznan added 3 points to their account after the final whistle.
