Lech Poznan - Piast Gliwice 2:2

Despite a two-goal advantage at half time, Lech Poznan drew with Piast Gliwice 2:2. Karol Linetty and Nicki Bille got the goals for the hosts.

Lech's players were well prepared to face the current vice-leader of the league and they proved their superiority in the 6th minute. Linetty recovered the ball in Piast's penalty area and placed it in the net with an accurate shot by the further corner. A few minutes later Lech could have scored again, but this time Kedziora's attempt to head the ball into the net was unprecise.

The conceded goal seemed to have mobilized the guests who began to attack with more determination. One of Mokwa's crosses from the right flank reached Barisic, but the latter failed to beat Buric. The goalkeeper intervened at the last moment and redirected the ball above the crossbar.

After 15 minutes of chaotic play, Lech finally regained control over the game. In the 31st minute Linetty hit the crossbar and shortly afterwards Bille sent the ball flying just above the goal. However, the Dane was more precise a few minutes later when the goalkeeper failed to catch the ball and the forward slid in to place it in the net.

The guests had nothing to lose and thus the came out for the second half determined to catch up with their rival. In the 51st minute Piast's players finished off a good offensive action with a goal. Vacek was the one who crossed the ball into the penalty area, while Zivec redirected it above Buric and into the goal. 10 minutes later the scoreboard showed a draw. A well-played-out counter attack was converted by Mraz into a strong shot past Buric and into the back of the net.

Piast even came close to scoring the third goal, but in the 69th minute the guests were in trouble. Kownacki was carrying the ball when Vacek fouled the youngster brutally near the half-line. The referee did not hesitate before kicking Piast's player out. Thus the guests were forced to play for the next 20 minutes in 10 men.

The weakening gave Lech room to fight for a win. The hosts were in possession of the ball most of the time, but that did not change the score. The lack of accuracy and the inability to deliver the last pass resulted in futile attempts to win the three points. Nevertheless, Piast's defense made errors which could have cost them a goal, like the one in 85th minute when Bille’s pass reached Linetty and the latter sent a strong shot in the direction of the goal. The shot wasn't hard to stop and yet the goalkeeper did not catch the ball. However, since Lech did not exploit any of those errors and convert them into a goal, when the referee whistled final time, the hosts couldn't be satisfied with how the things turned out.
