In the 3rd round of Lotto Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan lost 0:2 to Jagiellonia Bialystok and remains with only one point on the account. It is the fourth time in a row that Lech fails to beat the team from Bialystok.
Lech was about to face Jagiellonia without a single win on the account yet. In addition, the team from Poznan failed to score a goal in the opening matches of the league. Coach Urban decided for a formation with one striker only. This time it was Marcin Robak who was meant to find a way to place the ball in the net. Moreover, the clash had a special meaning for the player because it was his 150th league match. The first few minutes looked promising for Lech with one goal-scoring opportunity and clear domination over the play, however goals did not follow.
In the first 45 minutes Lech fired only one shot on target, but Wilusz's attempt was easily saved by the goalkeeper from Bialystok. Kedziora's header was a bit more surprising to Kelemen, but the defender's shot wasn't on target. Lech's defensive line had more work to do and the statistics prove it - the team from Bialystok fired four shots on target. Nevertheless, Buric did not let a single ball pass him.
After the halftime, Lech once again focused on the offensive, attempting to play faster. In the 50th minute Robak received a good pass from Majewski, but was blocked the defensive line. In the 61st minute Vassiljev demonstrated how to finish off offensive actions. The forward was left with a lot of space and his strong shot from about 30 meters bounced past Buric, off the post and into the net. 7 minutes after conceding a goal, Gajos and Kedziora built an offensive action that could have ended with a goal, but Kelemen saved Kedziora’s both shots directed at the goal.
Shortly afterwards Jagiellonia was awarded a penalty kick after a handball from Nielsen. Vassiljev converted it into the second goal. Both sides had a few goal-scoring opportunities, for instance when Frankowski directed a shot at the goal that hit the crossbar, but neither of them ended with a goal and thus the final score was a two-goal win for Jagiellonia and another loss for Lech.
