In the 7th round of PKO Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznan was beaten by Cracovia 1:2 (0:1). Tomczyk scored the only goal for the hosts.
The opening minutes of the Sunday match were relatively slow and for the majority of the time, the two teams fought for the ball in the midfield. Finally, after 15 minutes or so, Lech Poznan attacked for the first time that afternoon. Jozwiak and Gytkjaer built a counterattack all the way from the defence, however, the latter’s shot was easily stopped by the goalkeeper. Surprisingly, a couple of minutes later, Cracovia scored a goal. The guests converted a corner kick into a beautiful pass that Rapa redirected into the back of the net with his head. 5 minutes later, Lech had a perfect opportunity to equalize but Gytkjaer mishit the ball and failed to convert Jozwiak’s precise pass into a goal. The hosts were very committed and tried their best to change the score before halftime, but they failed to do so.
The second half kicked off with a great goal-scoring opportunity for the team from Cracow but Wdowiak failed to give his team a two-goal lead. In the next few minutes, the two sides slowed down once more whilst Lech struggled to find a way past Cracovia’s defensive line. Jozwiak had the best scoring chance of the match but his first attempt was blocked, whilst his second shot hit the post. A moment later, Cracovia scored once more. This time it was van Amersfoort who found a way to beat van der Hart in a one-on-one situation despite the keeper’s desperate attempt to stop the ball. Shortly afterwards, Amaral appeared on the pitch and brought some fresh energy to the team. He also created numerous scoring chances, one of which ended with the ball hitting the post. A few minutes before the final whistle, Tomczyk – who had just come on the pitch – received a great ball from Amaral and placed it in the net with a precise shot. Unfortunately, Lech didn’t have enough time to fight for another goal hence when the match finished, it was Cracovia that collected three league points.
