Lech beat Cracovia in the 19th match league of the season. The team from Poznan won the home game 1:0 and advanced to the 4th rank in the table.
The match began with an early goal for Cracovia, scored by the team’s captain, which was disallowed following a video verification. According to the referee, Piatek fouled Dilaver before scoring the goal. The situation was a warning for Lech and forced the hosts to remain extra cautious in the opening minutes which were dominated by the team from Cracow.
It took Lech 17 minutes to build the first scoring chance. Jevtic decided for a shot from outside the box. A minute later his teammate, Maciej Makuszewski, attempted to do the same, but both shots were easily stopped by the goalkeeper. Shortly afterward, the latter was forced to leave the pitch after sustaining an injury and was replaced by Nicklas Barkroth.
Half an hour into the match and Lech conceded another goal which was also disallowed, but this time because of an offside. A couple of minutes later Lech scored and took the lead. Jevtic crossed the ball into the box from the corner of the pitch and Dilaver converted the chance into a goal with a strong, precise header. It could have been 2:0 before halftime, but Gajos’s successful attempt was disallowed due to an offside.
The second half was marked by Lech’s intensified offensive actions. Jevtic’s dangerous attempt was the opening minutes of the second part of the match was blocked by one of Cracovia’s defenders at the last moment. The hosts were focused on remaining in possession of the ball and for long periods they managed to stop Cracovia from coming too close to their box. One of the tactics employed by Lech was engaging the defenders in the offensive actions, but despite numerous scoring chances, the team from Poznan struggled to convert them into precise shots.
In the closing minutes of the second half of the match became more balanced, but Lech kept their penalty area secured. In the 84th minute Lech’s tactical execution of a corner kick was finished off by Jevtic, but the midfielder’s attempt was just slightly off target. The score remained unchanged and Lech collected 3 important points that helped them move up the league rank.
