Lech’s first league match of the 2021/22 season did not go according to plan. The team from Poznań got a goalless draw against PKO BP Ekstraklasa newcomers, Radomiak Radom.
The club from Radom returned to the top football division after 36 years of absence, hence it was difficult to foresee how the team would perform at Bułgarska street. It turned out that Radomiak wasn’t focused on the offensive and aside from Luis Machado’s one-on-one goal-scoring opportunity with Mickey van der Hart, which he wasted by hitting the crossbar, the Ekstraklasa newcomers failed to cause problems to Lech’s defensive line.
Lech Poznań did not impress either. However, with just a bit more luck, the hosts would have a two-goal advantage before halftime. Bartosz Salamon and Mikael Ishak both found a way to place the ball in the back of Radomiak’s net, however, the two goals were ruled incorrect since both players were offside. Shortly before halftime, the Swedish striker had a perfect chance to score but his shot bounced off the crossbar. Jakub Kamiński also came close to scoring but he wasted a one-on-one situation with the keeper.
In the second half, the two teams had even fewer goal-scoring chances and the match ended with a goalless draw, which satisfied only the team from Radom. On Friday, Lech will get an opportunity to make a better impression in Zabrze, where they will play against Górnik.
