Second league win in a row and another clean sheet. On Sunday afternoon, Lech Poznań beat Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała 4:0 in a home clash. The three points have helped the team from Poznań move up two places in the league table.
Lech remained in control of the match with Podbeskidzie for practically the full 90 minutes. However, in the 28th minute, the hosts were in trouble when Marko Rognić placed the ball in the net and changed the score to 1:0 for his team. Luckily for Lech, the goal was cancelled following consultation with VAR since the ball managed to leave the pitch before the striker scored.
It was one of the few goal-scoring opportunities that Podbeskidzie had on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, their opponent had plenty of chances to change the score and they executed a few of them successfully. Thomas Rogne was the author of the first goal – Lech’s captain scored a beautiful, technical header following Alan Czerwiński’s perfect cross from the corner kick. Mikael Ishak changed the score to 2:0 shortly before halftime. The Swedish striker won back the ball close to Podbeskidzie’s penalty area and effortlessly beat the goalkeeper with a strong shot under the crossbar.
10 minutes into the second half, the scoreboard already showed a 4:0 result. First, in the 47th minute, Pedro Tiba received a perfect long ball from Dani Ramirez which initiated a counterattack and since the Portuguese was much quicker than the Podbeskidzie’s defender, he had no problems placing the ball in the net. Shortly afterwards, Ramirez got a goal of his own. First, Jan Sýkora tried surprising the keeper and Pesković intervened but he couldn’t do much about the Spaniard’s follow-up shot.
