In the 25th round of PKO Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznań beat Górnik Zabrze at home. Dani Ramirez scored his debut goal, whilst Kamil Jóźwiak and Christian Gytkjaer (double) set the final score to 4:1.
Following an unlucky draw in the clash with Jagiellonia Białystok, Żuraw’s team wanted to make it up to their fans in the home match against Górnik Zabrze. Their determination was visible from the very start and in one of the opening offensive attempts of the game, Lech already caused problems to Górnik’s defensive line. Ramirez decided for an individual run and then passed the ball to Kostevych who was positioned on the flank. The Ukrainian defender tried surprising Górnik’s keeper but he managed to stop the ball. Nonetheless, the goalkeeper was helpless when Ramirez fired a follow-up shot. It was the Spaniard’s first goal for Lech Poznań. Within 10 minutes of Lech’s goal, Górnik came close to equalizing, but luckily for the team from Poznań, Manneh’s shot was slightly off target and Jimenez’s attempt to lob van der Hart was also unsuccessful.
In the next quarter, Lech gradually started regaining control of the game, creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Gytkjaer came close to placing the ball in the net but his header flew above the crossbar. On the other end of the pitch, Jirka caused problems to Lech’s defensive line, however, his header was also imprecise. In the following offensive attempt, Górnik managed to equalize. Van der Hart’s mistake and Krawczyk’s intuitive shot put Lech in a difficult situation ahead of halftime. Both sides had good scoring chances in the closing minutes of the first half, but the goalkeepers’ interventions stopped the score from changing.
In the second half, Lech continued pressing on Górnik’s defence. It didn’t take long for the team from Poznań to score the second goal. Ramirez passed to Jóźwiak who raced into the box, set the ball on his right foot, and placed it in the net. The Spaniard had a scoring opportunity of his own but this time the goalkeeper triumphed. Van der Hart also intervened without an error when Janży surprised him with a shot from an acute angle.
Around the 80th minute, Lech’s domination became indisputable. Gytkjaer finally put an end to his goal drought and converted Moder’s pass into a beautiful lob. A few minutes later, Letniowski’s long ball set the Dane one-on-one with the keeper, and the experienced striker dribbled past Chudy and placed the ball in the net, setting the final score to 4:1.
